Researcher of the Month, April 2022.
Whew! April came with a bang and now it is gone so fast. The month of May is here. But before we go further into the new month, we want to celebrate a resourceful person in FATPARG and a handsome Metabolite. Guess who? See for yourself.
Our spotlight is on no other but our new Research and Publishing Coordinator in the Executive Directorate, Mr Goshen Miteu David. Mr Goshen is also a recipient of the 2021 i-Scholar Initiatives award.
In the administrative arm of FATPARG, Mr Goshen serves the Executive Directorate as the Research and Publishing Coordinator.
I liaise with all HODs about ongoing research activities in respective units. Evaluates research activities across all units. Listens to and proffers solutions within my capacity to research complaints and challenges of researchers across all units. Fosters progress and Interdisciplinary research in all units.
Goshen serves academically as the Head of the Interdisciplinary Research Department. In this capacity, he leads the coalition of active interdisciplinary researchers with the objective of siphoning a wealth of experiences from multiple disciplines or expertise and using interdisciplinary thinking/perspective as a tool to tap these ideas to push boundaries and break grounds in the research hub for solutions. Responsible for unit welfare, progress and admission of members into the unit.

I have done 2 research with both the Food Science and Aquaculture Departments. However, 2 have been published 1 from each department while the other 2 from both are currently under peer-review at the journals. That is a total of 4 research.
What do you love most about FATPARG?
Resilience for growth to impact.
Specialization and Research Focus:
Biomedical Science, Food/Plant Science and Therapy
Research Drive and Stance:
Situations will not change on it own if nothing is done. Unprecedented situations calls for unprecedented actions. Emerging and Re-Emerging challenges, there is a dire need and call to action for scientist/researchers to mitigate these challenges. As science is evolving with nascent technologies, I am poised to challenge science to proffer solutions via translational and bespoke research.
How do you handle a bad day in the Laboratory or doing research?
Music, Music, Music!!! all forms, listening and playing a musical instrument (Piano and drums).
Short Narration of most funny or happy research experience:
LOL. the moment the Food Science and Technology department got her first publication. They worked so hard during the research phases, was a happy moment well deserved.
Counsel to other Researchers:
Research is a marathon and not a sprint. LOL. It will never end. emoji So there is no rest for us. We keep being on our toes finding solutions to different problems locally and globally for positive impact. However, it is thrilling to know that you are adding knowledge to science freely. Moreso, I do know sometimes the phase and processes might seem tougher than the problems to be solved. Therefore, it is very okay to unwind in this race, take short breaks, discuss with colleagues, collaborate because sometimes the solutions might just spring forth from a healthy discourse. Cheers to us!
