RESEARCHER OF THE MONTH, FEBRUARY 2022!

Meet our Researcher for the month of February, the Head of the Department of Aquaculture, FATPARG, Mr Samuel Ijabo Ogah (MSc.). He is also a Lecturer and Researcher at Federal University Gashua, Nigeria and serves as a Technical writer at One-Health Development Initiative.




So far, he has worked on four interdisciplinary research in FATPARG titled;

1. Role of technology in catfish production (Published in Agricultural Reviews, a Q3 journal)

2. Roles and challenges of women in Aquaculture,

3. Shrimp production in developing nations, and

4. Integrated farming strategies.

Mr Samuel is also a member of the executive review panel where he works in unison with other panellists on manuscript editing, proofing and forwarding to the appropriate journals. He is also responsible for the preparation of technical reports.

As the Public Relations Officer, Samuel liaises with external groups on behalf of FAT-PARG and projects a clear image of FAT-PARG to external bodies. He also proofread articles to prevent legal infringement on FAT-PARG. In the Innovative Team, he works on the development and execution of ideas to bring FATPARG forward.

What do you love most about FATPARG?

"I am always excited to be with young people who are passionate about learning and translating what they learn to tangible products through research".

2. Sustainable aquaculture.

3. Aquaculture Systems.

4. Aquaponics




Mr Samuel handles a bad day in the laboratory by taking a nap, nature walks and conversing with loved ones. This is something worthy of emulation as this has been proven to work in boosting energy.

Most funny or happy research experience;

"Publication of my first paper, it was ecstatic. Also during my MSc when I learned how to carry out proximate analysis and use SAS for analysis".

Counsel to other Researchers;

"Research is many things to many people. One thing it is not is a sprint, it requires passion and tenacity to win a marathon".
